Ms. Anna Hall
Anna Mitchell Hall is a research assistant at the University of Georgia, networking team member for the Interfaith Childrens Movement of Metro Atlanta, and ministry intern at Virginia-Highland Church. She received her Master of Divinity degree from Candler School of Theology at Emory in May 2008.
A native of Moultrie, Georgia, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy at Valdosta State University in 1996 and a Master of Public Administration , also at VSU, in 2002. She spent 8 years in social services delivery, including teaching parenting and life skills to parents at risk of abusing their children, training employees of a human services agency and coordinating services for adults with developmental disabilities. In 2003, seeking progressive religious dialogue, commitment to social action, and liturgical worship, she began attending a Unitarian Universalist Church and an Episcopal Church and quickly became a lay leader in both congregations. She also became involved in South Points Association for Exploring Religion, or SPAFER, a progressive Christian organization in Birmingham. She soon realized that she felt most alive when thinking and talking about religion, which led her to enroll in Candler School of Theology in Atlanta. After moving to Atlanta to attend Candler, she joined Virginia Highland Church, an inclusive congregation where the worship is liturgical and the theology is progressive.
Anna is a member of the United Church of Christ and the Alliance of Baptists. Currently a student in the Ph.D. program in Adult Education at the University of Georgia, Anna is preparing for a ministry of progressive religious education and spreading the good news of progressive Christianity.
